Our Service Area includes Morgantown, Brookhaven, Star City, Westover, Granville, Osage and extends to a 10-mile radius around Goshen Baptist Church, Rock Forge Presbyterian Church and the Star City Meals on Wheels Kitchen/office which serve as our three distribution centers.

Meals are delivered between 10 AM and Noon, Monday through Friday, within a 10-mile radius of each center by volunteer drivers year-round.  Only exceptions are specified holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas), or when local schools close for inclement weather.

As a general rule, if Monongalia County schools are closed due to snow or other weather emergencies, meals will not be delivered. Listen to the radio, WVAQ and WAJR, or watch WBOY and WDTV for information about school closings due to weather related problems and Morgantown Area Meals on Wheels deliveries.

Meals are different each day and the menus are planned in collaboration with professional dietitians and the WVU Dietetic Program. Meals are prepared with love by experienced cooks at the Star City Kitchen.

A majority of clients receive either a "general" or a "diabetic" meal. In many cases special diets can be accommodated.  If the cooks have any questions about the nutritional or preparation needs they will consult with the professional dietitians associated with the WVU Dietetic Intern program.

An optional program of receiving shelf-stable meals for the weekend is available for interested clients. These meals require little or no cooking and are delivered on Thursday or Friday depending on the customer's Monday thru Friday delivery schedule.

Funding comes from local foundations, organizations and individuals that believe people, families and our communities benefit more when individuals live in a familiar home environment with or near family members.

Client payments for meals cover only a portion of the cost to prepare and serve meals.

While meals are not free, clients are charged for their meals based on their financial circumstances. There are no age or income limits for receiving meals.

The most a client pays is $6.00 for a regular or diabetic meal and $7.00 for special needs meals such as gluten free, salt free and vegan.  Enrollment interviewers will assist in determining what clients can afford and may adjust the amount to as low as $2.00 depending on need.
